Kate commemorates Vic Tomyl Day in Maynard

July 1, 2021 was Vic Tomyl Day in the town of Maynard. Vic is a life long resident of Maynard and has owned and operated Hawes Florist on Powdermill Road for 60 years with his wife Marion. Vic started at Hawes florists at 9 years old – sweeping floors – and 20 years later he bought the place.

Vic has contributed and cared for his community as a member of the board for Assabet and Middlesex Banks; president of the local chamber of commerce; Maynard Finance Committee; and the Maynard Elks. He was a Corporal in the US Marine Corp, First Division, during the Korean Conflict and is a member of the American Legion and VFW. Every year Vic donates wreaths and flowers to Veteran and Memorial Day ceremonies in town. He has also contributed countless hours and support for Maynard High’s WAVM Telethon, Maynard Little League, and the annual Christmas Parade.
