Third Middlesex District towns receive fire safety grants

Congratulations to the towns of Hudson, Maynard and Stow on their recently-awarded Student Awareness of Fire Education (SAFE) and Senior SAFE FY25 grant funds.

Massachusetts takes fire safety seriously and seniors and children’s lives have been saved because of it. Fire Safety Grants give firefighters the capacity to deliver life-saving lesson to kids. In fact, the number of MA children who die in fires has dropped to historically low levels, from two dozen or more per year to zero for nearly three consecutive years. The Senior SAFE grants make a difference by sending trained firefighters to conduct home safety assessments, install or replace smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and help our seniors age in place safely and independently.

Education and small changes can make a big difference when it comes to lowering your risk of a house fire or fall.
