As part of the annual celebration by the MA Commission on the Status of Women, Rep. Hogan nominated Maynard’s Kim Lalli as a 2022 Commonwealth Heroine for her work on Maynard’s Hometown Heroes and so many other worthy causes that make our town a better place to live.
Kim was honored in MCSW’s annual ceremony on Wednesday, June 22. A recording of the ceremony is available on MCSW’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MassCSW.
According to the MCSW, the Commonwealth Heroines are women “who don’t make the news, but make the difference. Thousands of women in every community of the state perform unheralded acts on a daily basis that make our homes, neighborhoods, cities, and towns better places to live. Commonwealth Heroines use their time, talent, spirit, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others in their community. They are mentors, volunteers, and innovators who strive to protect and represent the interests of seniors, victims of violence, children, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations. They are the glue that keeps a community together.”
Kim Lalli is known for her caring, giving, helpful – yet humble and selfless – nature. She is drawn to engaging with, and contributing to, the betterment of her community and those around her. She has served enthusiastically and tirelessly in several local and national organizations, helping people in need and showing others how to get involved. Kim’s contributions include serving in many roles for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, from scout leader to town-wide coordinator, encampment chair, town treasurer and encampment consultant. She has also contributed significantly to Maynard Relay for Life as team captain and town chairperson. Kim is also president and supreme convention financial secretary for the Maynard Emblem Club #205 and recently became a founding member of Maynard’s Hometown Heroes program.
“Kim Lalli has contributed greatly to those in need and to worthy causes; she is an inspiration to many for her tireless devotion to her community, leading and engaging in efforts to enrich the lives of those around her and serving as a true example of a Commonwealth Heroine,” said Representative Kate Hogan (D-Stow). “For her efforts, talent, spirit and enthusiasm, I was honored to nominate Kim as a Commonwealth Heroine and present her with a House Resolution to mark her contributions to the Maynard community.”
