Rep. Hogan Celebrates New Home for Historic Maynard Bell

Rep. Hogan joined the Maynard Historical Society for a dedication ceremony on behalf of the Maynard Mill Curfew Bell. The historic bell was cast in 1856 at the former Paul Revere Foundry in Boston, MA, by Henry Northey Hooper. It was bought for the Assabet Manufacturing Company and used to remind workers in the mill to be at home and in bed when the bell rang.

When the mill closed, the bell was moved to a local church, and when the church recently closed, the bell was moved to its new home at the Maynard Public Library. During the dedication ceremony, Ellen Duggan shared the bell’s history.
